PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the work efficiency of reading a manuscript.SOLUTION: A scanner includes: a feeder part which feeds the manuscript loaded on a manuscript tray; a platen on which the manuscript is loaded; a read unit which executes either first reading processing for reading the fed manuscript at a first position, or second reading processing for reading the manuscript loaded on the platen while moving from a second position different from the first position, according to a read start instruction; a manuscript cover which covers the platen in a closed state; and a control unit which changes the position of the read unit before receiving the start instruction, on the basis of the presence or absence of the manuscript in the manuscript tray and the open/close state of the manuscript cover.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
