A brake assembly for in-line roller skates including a pair of bracket-shaped brake elements positioned over the two rear wheels of each skate. The rearmost wheel is pivotally connected to its preceding wheel by link members so as to let the rearmost wheel make upward movement. When braking is desired the skater lifts the forward part of the boot so his/her weight is positioned over the two rear wheels and the rearmost wheel in turn is shifted upward position while remaining in contact with the ground and contacts the rear bracket-shaped brake element. The rear part of arm, in which is accommodated the bracket-shaped brake element, is shifted upward position and as a result, the forward part of the arm is lowered downward position and this brings the forward bracket-shaped brake element into contact with the wheel so as to realize braking event.
|
