PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coating liquid for use in a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet, capable of producing the thermal transfer image-receiving sheet which is excellent in dispersion stability and well resistant to bleeding.SOLUTION: This method for producing a coating liquid for use in a thermal transfer image-receiving sheet includes steps (1)-(3), wherein a polyester resin used in the step (1) has an aromatic ring, a ratio of total numbers of moles of the aromatic ring in molecules of a raw material component ranges 0.9-1.2, an organic solvent is a mixture of methyl ethyl ketone and ethyl acetate, and a specific solubility parameter of the mixture is 9.14-9.29(cal/mol). The step (1) is of dissolving the polyester resin in the organic solvent and adding a neutralizer to obtain a polyester resin solution. The step (2) is of adding water to the resin solution, inverting a phase to emulsify, removing the organic solvent and obtaining aqueous dispersion of the polyester resin. The step (3) is of adding addition-polymerizable monomers having an aromatic group to the aqueous dispersion, polymerizing, and obtaining aqueous dispersion of a graft polymer. |
