PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which reduction in capacity retaining rate and increase in internal resistance are suppressed by preventing the outflow of a nonaqueous electrolyte from a negative electrode during charging and discharging of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.SOLUTION: In a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a negative electrode 84 comprises: a negative electrode collector 82; and a negative electrode mixture layer 86 which is formed on the surface of the negative electrode collector and at least includes a negative electrode active material and a binder. A covered portion 70 covered with a water-soluble or water-dispersible aqueous polymer is formed on an end lateral face of the negative electrode mixture layer.
