PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire lateral force arithmetic unit suppressing discomfort and inoperability of to an occupant. SOLUTION: This tire lateral force arithmetic unit is provided with a tire skid angle computer (tire skid angle estimating means) 102 for finding a tire skid angle, a wheel load computer (wheel load estimating means) 103 for finding a wheel load, and a tire lateral force computer (tire lateral force estimating means) 105 for finding a tire lateral force, based on the tire skid angle estimated value, the wheel load estimated value and a tire longitudinal force, using an approximate expression for approximating a relation between the tire longitudinal force and a tire slip ratio within a range of a prescribed tire slip ratio, and using a relation between the tire slip ratio and the tire lateral force.
