PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer-coated pigment exhibiting excellent dispersion stability even in an organic solvent and to provide a method for producing a polymer-coated pigment, which is applied to a general-purpose pigment and produces a polymer-coated pigment exhibiting excellent dispersibility stability even in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: The polymer-coated pigment has a polymer (B) obtained by copolymerizing a polymerizable unsaturated group-containing polymer (B-1) soluble in a nonaqueous solvent with at least one kind of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (B-2) which is soluble in a nonaqueous solvent and is made insoluble or slightly soluble after polymerization on the surface of a pigment (A). The method for producing a polymer-coated pigment comprises polymerizing at least one kind of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (B-2) which is soluble in a nonaqueous solvent and is made insoluble or slightly soluble after polymerization in the presence of a pigment (A), a nonaqueous solvent and a polymerizable unsaturated group-containing polymer (B-1) soluble in the nonaqueous solvent.
