PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical microwave conversion device which outputs microwave exhibiting a sufficiently high power source efficiency and an output power of the class of subwatt to watt order. SOLUTION: The microwave conversion device has a means for generating an optical signal which is subjected to signal strength modulation into half wave-rectified wave by the frequency of the microwave and a photodiode which outputs a microwave electric signal when reverse bias voltage is applied to it and the optical signal is input in it. Also, another optical microwave conversion device has a means for generating an optical signal which is subjected to signal strength modulation into half wave-rectified wave by the frequency of the microwave, a means for branching the optical signal into two optical signals whose phase differential is equivalent to a half cycle of the microwave, two photodiodes which output a microwave electric signal respectively when reverse bias voltage is applied to them and the two optical signals are input in them respectively and a means for taking out microwave electric signals in opposite phase to each other which are output from the two photodiodes.
