PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which is improved in the discharge characteristics. SOLUTION: This plasma display panel 200 includes a first panel 1 and a second panel 8, and has a discharge space 14, formed between the first panel 1 and the second panel 8. In the plasma display panel 200, a metal oxide 20 is arranged so as to face the discharge space 14, and the metal oxide 20 has a rock salt type crystal structure and is a solid oxide solution of at least one kind of element selected from among a group comprising Ca, Sr and Ba, and an oxide of at least one kind of element selected from a group comprising Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn.
