PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic data erasing device which can surely erase magnetic data by a single operation without distinguishing a horizontal magnetic recording medium and a vertical magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: The direction of the axis of one coil forms an angle in a range of larger than 0°and smaller than 90°with respect to the direction vertical to the surface of the magnetic recording medium while another coil is formed of a rectangular conductive wire and has an electrical resistance of 0.2 mΩto 150 mΩ, inductance of 0.3 mH to 1.3 mH, and 1/(L×C)<SP>1/2</SP>of 250 (1/sec) to 650 (1/sec). A capacity of a capacitor is equal to or larger than 7,000μF, and a diode is disposed in the normal direction from the negative side to the positive side of the coil so that a single turn on of an operation switch forms a pulsed field whose peak of magnetic flux density is 0.4 T to 1.2 T in the central part of the axis and duration a time when the magnetic flux density is equal to or higher than 0.4 T is 4 ms to 45 ms.
