<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active oxygen scavenger highly safe to human health and having excellent effects, and to provide a composition such as a skin care preparation for external use and a composition for the oral cavity, and food, each compounded with such an active oxygen scavenger. <P>SOLUTION: The active oxygen scavenger is characterized by comprising, as active ingredient, an extract from at least one plant selected from the group consisting of Parkia speciosa, Chromolaena odoratum, Anacyclus pyrethrum DC., Ochrocarpus longifolius, Aganosma marginata G.
