PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle door lock device that allows a latch mechanism to be made more compact in a door thickness direction.SOLUTION: A latch 25 includes a half-latch pawl 25d and a full-latch pawl 25b and is rotatably connected to a door, is pressed by a striker 29 as the door closes, and engages with the striker 29 while both tips of the half-latch pawl 25d and the full-latch pawl 25b rotate so as to be displaced toward outside in a door thickness direction. A pole 26 engages with the half-latch pawl 25d or the full-latch pawl 25b to stop rotation of the latch 25. A pressed protruded piece 25g and others regulate rotation of the latch 25 at a prescribed over-latch position. When the latch 25 is in the over-latch position, the tip of the half-latch pawl 25d is located at an outermost position in the door thickness direction, and a distance R2 between a center of rotation of the latch 25 and the tip of the half-latch pawl 25d is set to be shorter than a distance R1 to the tip of the full-latch pawl 25b.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
