PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and stably estimate a vocabulary learning speed without assuming a vocabulary explosion period.SOLUTION: A device for estimating a vocabulary leaning speed includes: a plateau remover 24 for rearranging each day age in a data set, such that a day age interval becomes a reference value in a plateau where the day age interval until a next new word is uttered becomes greater than a threshold, with respect to a time sequence of the data set showing a relationship between the day age at which an infant utters a new word and a cumulative number; a function approximator 28 for approximating with a linear function a chronological transition in the data set which uses the rearranged data set; and a vocabulary learning speed calculator 30 for calculating an inclination of the approximated linear function as an infant's vocabulary learning speed.
