PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the processing speed of shading correction, by making a reading device compact.SOLUTION: A reading device includes placing means for placing a document, reading means having a photoelectric conversion unit and a light source, and reading the document, bright side adjustment means for adjusting the gain on the bright side of the photoelectric conversion unit due to variation in quantity of light, and a quantity of light reference unit disposed at the stand-by position of the reading means in the placing means, oppositely to the reading means. When performing gain adjustment on the bright side, the reading means acquires information about the quantity of light reference unit at the stand-by position, and the bright side adjustment means performs gain adjustment by comparing the reference information about the quantity of light reference unit stored previously in the storage means with the above-mentioned information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
