PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent gas barrier film having uniform thickness and composition. SOLUTION: The long transparent gas barrier film with a roll shape is manufactured while the film thickness and the composition of a formed metal or inorganic oxide layer are measured by the arrangement of at least two monitors using fluorescent X-ray at such positions that they are apart by 100 to 500 mm in a width direction of a plastic film and that the distance between the plastic film and a vapor deposition source is 250 mm or more, when the plastic film is continuously manufactured by laminating a metal or inorganic oxide layer on at least one face by a vapor deposition method.
