PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an image display device capable of equalizing a range of an outgoing angle of outgoing light on both sides at a low cost regardless of a refractive index of a prism material constituting a liquid crystal prism element.SOLUTION: An image display device 1 includes: an image display panel 4; a backlight device 2 disposed on the back side of the image display panel 4; a liquid crystal prism element 3 disposed between the image display panel 4 and the backlight device 2; an offset optical element 11 disposed between the image display panel 4 and the backlight device 2 and deflecting incident light; a position detection part 38 which detects a viewing position of a viewer; and a control part 6 which controls an application voltage applied to a second optical element in accordance with the viewing position detected by the position detection part. |
