PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop a photographing unit within a shorter period of time than before in moving the photographing unit in the direction of an optical axis by a VCM (voice coil motor). SOLUTION: A current signal that gradually changes is supplied to, for example, a coil 102 of the VCM for driving the photographing unit provided with a photographic lens. A current signal generation circuit in a VCM driving circuit 131 generates a step-shaped current signal and inputs the step-shaped current signal to a circuit shown in Figure 7(a) to thereby make a current waveform conversion circuit of Figure 7(a) output to the coil 102 a current signal that gradually changes in accordance with a signal from a CPU 230. Thus, the photographing unit is slowly started to quickly move the photographing unit to a prescribed position without stimulating a spring supporting the coil and immediately stop the photographing unit at the prescribed position.
