PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chroma key detection range adjusting method and chroma key detection range adjusting device, which correctly detects a chroma key even when a chroma key level fluctuates. SOLUTION: When upper thresholds are gradually lowered from the maximum fluctuation value of a chroma key level to find that the decreasing degree of the number of pixels existing between a lower threshold and an upper threshold is a prescribed limit or more, the preceding upper threshold is determined as an upper threshold with high accuracy. When lower thresholds are gradually lowered from the minimum fluctuation value of the chroma key level to find that the decreasing degree of the number of pixels existing between a lower threshold and an upper threshold is a prescribed limit or more in the same way, the just preceding lower threshold is determined as a lower threshold with high accuracy.
