PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of processing capacity when a load is light, while carrying a workpiece by sufficient thrust. SOLUTION: In this workpiece carrying method, a carrying passage 20 for guiding the workpiece 1 in a carrying direction, a pair of upstream side nip rolls 12 and upstream side driving motor 22 for rotating and driving the nip rolls 12, and a pair of downstream side nip rolls 13 and a downstream side driving motor 23 for rotating and driving the nip rolls 13, are used. The method has: a first delivery process for delivering the workpiece delivered from a carrying-in side in a carrying direction by holding the workpiece by the pair of the upstream side nip rolls 12 by rotating and driving the pair of the upstream side nip rolls 12; and a second delivery process for delivering the workpiece in the carrying direction by holding the workpiece by the pair of the downstream side nip rolls 13 by rotating and driving the pair of the downstream side nip rolls 13.
