摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element having a wide visual field angle without generating an accidental image by using a liquid crystal alignment layer by which a liquid crystal alignment tilt angle at a surface of a substrate is nearly 0 and strong anchoring is achieved and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the same. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display element provided with a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal layer disposed between the pair of substrates and the liquid crystal alignment layer 5 disposed between the liquid crystal layer and at least either one of the pair of substrates, the at least one liquid crystal alignment layer 5 has different two directional grooves 6 formed in the surface thereof and an angle formed by the two directional grooves 6 is larger than 0°and smaller than 90°(a rhombus).
