PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed reduction mechanism capable of reducing the number of component elements of a planetary gear mechanism and making a size of the planetary gear mechanism small and provide a driving device including the speed reduction mechanism.SOLUTION: A speed reducing mechanism in accordance with one preferred embodiment of this invention has several planetary gear mechanisms along an axial direction of the planetary gear. The planetary gear mechanism has a sun gear, a planetary gear, and a planetary carrier. The sun gear rotates in integral with an input side rotating shaft. The planetary gear is engaged with the sun gear and shows a revolution around an outer periphery of the sun gear through rotation of the sun gear. The planetary carrier rotatably supports the planetary gear and is rotatable around a center axis of the sun gear. The planetary carrier of one planetary gear mechanism of the adjoining planetary gear mechanisms in an axial direction has a motion restricting part for restricting motion of the planetary gear of the other planetary gear mechanism toward the axial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
