摘要 The present invention relates to a system and a method to detect an obstacle around a vehicle based on a top view, which make a top view image by receiving an input of images around the vehicle in real time when the driver is parking the vehicle, detect an obstacle by using a canny edge in the first received image and the top view image, and detect the obstacle in a final image through point matching of the detected obstacle. The system of the present invention comprises: a plurality of cameras placed around the vehicle to shoot the surroundings of the vehicle and to output the image into an image signal; a control unit to receive the images from the plurality of cameras, to remove the parts excluding the ground surface, to cut only the images of the ground surface around the vehicle, to detect a canny edge, to extract the borderline of the image based on the detected canny edge, to detect a point, to convert the image into a top view image, to detect a characteristic point, to detect the obstacle by using the point and the characteristic point, to include a block of a field of view in the area of detected obstacle, and to output a final image; and a display unit to output the final image generated by the control unit onto the screen. Therefore, the present invention is able to rapidly provide a warning related to the obstacle to the driver and to secure safety of the driver.
