The present invention provides a method for producing a Mo-, V-, Sb-, and Nb-containing oxide catalyst used in a vapor-phase-contact oxidation reaction or vapor-phase-contact ammoxidation reaction of propane or isobutane, wherein the method comprises: a preparation step for preparing a first aqueous mixture that contains Mo, V, and Sb; a mixing step for mixing the first aqueous mixture, a silica-sol-containing carrier raw material, and an Nb raw material to obtain a second aqueous mixture; a drying step for drying the second aqueous mixture to obtain a dry powder; and a firing step for firing the dry powder to obtain the oxide catalyst; the carrier raw material having a silica sol content, expressed in terms of SiO2 and with respect to the total amount of the carrier raw material, of 25% by mass or more, the silica sol having an average primary particle diameter of 3.0 nm or more and less than 11 nm, and containing 55% or more of silica sol particles that have an average primary particle diameter of less than 11 nm. |
