PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to properly read a document irrespective of an illumination output of external light.SOLUTION: In a reading device 1, an illumination determination part 7 determines an illumination output of an illumination part 4 on the basis of an image of a document 5 photographed by an imaging part 3 while the document is not illuminated by the illumination part 4 but illuminated by external light 9; the illumination part 4 illuminates the document at the determined illumination output; and the imaging part 3 photographs the document 5. Thus, the gradation of the image of the document 5 to be photographed is maintained at a constant level or more irrespective of the illumination output of the external light 9; and therefore, the reading device 1 can properly read the document 5 irrespective of the brightness of the external light 9.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
