The invention discloses a novel polypeptide, human tyrosinase 12, the polynucleotide encoding the same and the method of production thereof by DNA recombinant techniques. Methods of using the polypeptide for treating various diseases such as malignant tumors, hemopathy, HIV infection, immune diseases, and various inflammations are also disclosed. Furthermore, the invention discloses the antagonists of the polypeptide and the effects thereof. The use of the polynucleotide encoding the novel human tyrosinase 12 is also disclosed.
