The ball-shaped elements (28) are made of calcium phosphate and can be inserted into a damaged vertebral body (16) using a specific instrument. A cannula (24) of a diameter matching the size of a single element (28) is guided through an opening in the pedicle (22) into the vertebral body (16) and the elements (28) are released through the tip (26) provided with a curved inner surface (36) with a lateral opening (34) for an exact positioning. The damaged bone tissue is compressed by the supporting elements (28).
