A pharmaceutical composition comprising silymarin is provided to be useful for inhibiting increase of the thickness of ear, increase of the moisture content of the ear, increase of lymph node weight and expression of TNF-alpha, thereby capable of preventing and treating irritant contact dermatitis. A pharmaceutical composition for irritant contact dermatitis comprises silymarin or main ingredients thereof such as silybin, silidianin and silicristin, wherein the silymarin or the main ingredients thereof inhibits the excessive production of TNF-alpha.
