A projection type display apparatus and a chip comprising the same are provided to reduce weight and size of the display apparatus by simplifying the optical constitution of the display apparatus and constructing the display apparatus in a package type. A projection type display apparatus(50) comprises one or more light sources(21). A light path unit(22) is formed on a plane. The light path unit has one or more branches. The lights emitted from the light sources are incident through the branches, respectively. A scanning unit(26) scans the lights passed by the light path unit(22) to realize an image. The light sources are repeatedly turned on or turned off in response to external signals.
