MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM FRAMEWORK HAVING LAYER CONSOLIDATING ACCESS TO MULTIPLE MEDIA DEVICES

摘要

A multimedia system frame work having a layer consolidating access function to multiple media devices is provided to identify and access media data from multiple devices easily by accessing a multimedia file and data base through a multimedia engine and supplying graphic interface through a human-machine interface. A multimedia system(200) comprises a database(225), a multimedia engine(205), and a human-machine interface. The database stores the multimedia files stored in the multimedia data sources, where the multimedia file information from the multimedia data sources are consolidated in a commonly accessible format. The multimedia engine is adapted to access the multimedia files and the database. The human machine interface is adapted to interact with the multimedia engine to provide a graphical interface for accessing the multimedia files based on the information stored on the database, where the interaction is generally independent of which of multimedia data sources contains the multimedia files.
