PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a magnetic disk which can keep a clean surface of a substrate even after executing plasma processing at normal pressures, and has a protection layer having high adhesion with a lubricant layer. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the magnetic disk which comprises the magnetic recording layer 50, the protection layer 60, and the lubricating layer 70 on the substrate 10 in order, and exposes the protection layer 60 under plasma at normal pressures after forming the magnetic recording layer 50 and the protection layer 60 on the substrate 10 in order, wherein the plasma processing is carried out in a situation where air or moisture is absent in the vicinity of the surface of the protection layer exposed to the plasma.
