PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impeller of a water pump improving transfer efficiency of cooling water in the water pump for cooling an automobile engine, easy to manufacture and excelling in durability. SOLUTION: The impeller is comprised of a sheet of metal, is radially formed on a periphery of a basic circle part 1 with a plurality of blade base parts 2, 2, ..., in a coplanar manner and is formed with blade pieces 3 bent at almost a right angle and having a proper inclination angle so that leading edges 31 in a rotation direction lie on a more central side than trailing edges 32 in the rotation direction. Blade cover pieces 4 are formed to be bent at almost a right angle from outer ends of the blade pieces 3. An outer end side 44 of each blade cover piece 3 is almost close to an inner end side 43 of an adjacent blade cover piece 4 so that they are successively formed in almost a ring shape by the plurality of blade cover pieces 4.
