The device has a poppet mounted on a pedestal of a cylindrical part machining machine, and including a floating pin (6) connected by an end to a motor (5) driving in rotation. Another end of the pin is connected to a clamping collet (8) that radically holds elongated cylindrical parts, which are guided along an axle fixed in a guidance system. The pin is arranged in such a manner that the parts are rigidly coupled in rotation with the motor and are allowed to freely float with respect to the guidance system.
