PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that makes authentication using a reading storage medium efficient.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus including reading means reading an IC card, the image forming apparatus comprising: first acquisition means S302 that acquires authentication data stored in the IC card and used for authentication through reading by the reading means; second acquisition means S319 that acquires an IP address indicating a communication destination stored in the IC card through reading by the reading means; and authentication request transmission means S323 that, when the authentication data acquired by the first acquisition means is not stored in the image forming apparatus as authentication information, transmits an authentication request including the authentication data to another image forming apparatus corresponding to the IP address acquired by the second acquisition means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
