According to an embodiment of the present invention, the electronic device may comprise: an overcurrent protecting circuit, comprising: a battery cell electrically connected in between the first node and the second node; a first terminal; a second terminal; and a switching device to respond to generation of an overcurrent, wherein the first terminal is electrically connected to the first node; a power management IC electrically connected to the second terminal of the overcurrent protecting circuit; and a first protecting circuit electrically connected in between the first node and the power management IC to comprise one or more first passive elements. The power management IC may be formed to monitor the voltage of the battery cell at least partially based on the voltage and the current transferred through the first protecting circuit. The present invention aims to provide an electronic device and a method to charge the same, which are able to precisely measure the voltage of a battery, to control charging operation based on the measured voltage, and to reduce the charging time.
