The invention relates to a surgical tissue fusion instrument (100; 200) with two gripping structures (110;130; 210;230) which can be moved with respect to each other and which are designed for gripping and joining biological tissue sections which are to be fusioned, a heat generating means (114;134; 214; 234), which provokes tissue fusion between the biological tissue sections by heat generation, is associated with at least one gripping structure (110;130; 210;230), said heat-generating means (114; 34; 214;234) and/or at least one of the gripping structures (110;130; 210;230) comprising, at least on certain areas, a surface produced by surface treatment, promoting or supporting tissue fusion, and/or material promoting or supporting tissue fusion is contained in pores of the heat generating means (114;134; 214;234). The invention also relates to a surgical tissue fusion kit.
