PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and compositions for therapeutic or diagnostic use in treatment of diseases and disorders caused by amyloid or amyloid-like proteins including amyloidosis which is a group of disorders and abnormalities associated with amyloid protein such as Alzheimer's disease.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a chimeric antibody or a fragment thereof, or a humanized antibody or a fragment thereof, which specifically binds to at least one epitope on β-amyloid protein; a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding the antibody; a method comprising a step of administering a therapeutically effective amount of the antibody; and a method for diagnosing diseases or conditions associated with amyloid in a patient.SELECTED DRAWING: None
