The present invention relates to a method for determining actual lengths (Lp) of short intervals, shorter than one segment (Sx) of a toothed target (1) of the crankshaft. The determination method comprises: - a measurement step (13) measuring first times (t1), each corresponding to the time that said target takes to traverse a long interval of a length of a segment, and second times (t2), each corresponding to the time that said target takes to traverse a short interval, - a correction step (17) calculating a first ratio (R1) between two long intervals and a second ratio (R2) between two short intervals, - a step (21) of obtaining the actual length of each of the long intervals, - a step (23) of calculating a difference in length (D) between two long intervals, - and a step (25) of determining the respective actual lengths (Lp) of a pair of short intervals (ISx_i, ISx+1_i) of the toothed target. |
