PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent optical elements arranged on a ceiling side with respect to a rotary polygon mirror from being vibrated due to rotational vibration of the rotary polygon mirror, while avoiding an increase in installation area of an optical scanner.SOLUTION: An optical scanner comprises: a closed-bottom optical box 31 that is opened on a ceiling side; a lid member 32 that is arranged to cover the ceiling side of the optical box 31 and includes a light passage opening 32a; a light source 33 that is arranged inside the optical box 31 and emits a light beam; a rotary polygon mirror 34 that is supported on a bottom wall part of the optical box 31 and reflects the light beam emitted from the light source 33 to deflect and scan the light beam; a reflection mirror 38 that reflects the light beam deflected and scanned by the rotary polygon mirror 34 toward the ceiling side with respect to the rotary polygon mirror 34; and optical elements 36, 39, 40 that are arranged on the ceiling side with respect to the rotary polygon mirror 34, and guide the light beam reflected by the reflection mirror 38 to a scan target member 16 through the light passage opening 32a.
