PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling a receive sensitivity of a mobile communication terminal are provided to control strength of a local oscillating signal outputted from a VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator), and to control strength of a phase noise influencing a receiving signal when the receiving signal is frequency down-converted by a mixer, thereby improving a receive sensitivity of the signal. CONSTITUTION: A VCO(107) outputs a local oscillating signal. A controller(103) outputs a control signal for controlling strength of the local oscillating signal by corresponding to a receiving signal sensitivity. A signal level varying unit(105) receives the control signal to control the strength of the local oscillating signal, and outputs the controlled local oscillating signal. A mixer(101) synthesizes the controlled local oscillating signal with a receiving signal, and down-converts a frequency of the receiving signal.
