PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently synthesizing tricyclo[5.2.1.0<SP>2,6</SP>]dec-3-en-8 (or 9)-ol by using a solid acid catalyst. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of tricyclo[5.2.1.0<SP>2,6</SP>]dec-3-en-8 (or 9)-ol comprises subjecting dicyclopentadiene to a hydration reaction in the presence of a solid acid catalyst, where the solid acid catalyst is used in an amount of 3.0-10 times the weight of water and the hydration reaction is carried out at 50-150°C.
