PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double head surface grinding machine which is simple in structure, improved in grinding accuracy, and prevented from uneven abrasion of grinding wheels. SOLUTION: The double head surface grinding machine is formed of: the pairing grinding wheels 2 which are arranged on the same grindstone rotating axis O1 so as to be opposed to each other; and a carrier disk 11 which is fixed to a carrier disk rotating shaft 12 having a rotating axis O2 in parallel with the grindstone rotating axis O1, and formed with workpiece holding holes 18 for holding workpieces W. When each workpiece holding hole 18 reaches a predetermined loading location A1 on a carriage track, the workpiece W is fed into the workpiece holding hole 18 and then inserted between both the grinding wheels 2 to have both surfaces of the workpiece W ground, followed by discharging the workpiece W arranged in the workpiece holding hole 18. The carrier disk rotating shaft 12 is supported by a rocking arm 30 rockable about a rocking axis O3 in parallel with the carrier disk rotating shaft O2, and rocked about the rocking axis O3 together with the carrier disk 11 by a rocking driving mechanism 31.
