摘要 Provided is a reference electrode holding member that is highly operable and that has conductive lines that are not easily contaminated. Also provided is a substance detection device. A reference electrode holding member that is used in a substance detection device that uses a reference electrode that determines an electrical reference for a solution to electrochemically detect substances in the solution. The reference electrode holding member includes at least a substrate, a reference electrode holding hole that is formed in the substrate, a reference electrode flow path, and a first flow path. A sensor-facing surface that faces an electrochemical sensor of the substance detection device is formed on the substrate. The reference electrode holding hole is formed in a section of the substrate that is not the sensor-facing surface and can hold a reference electrode that can be inserted therein. One end of the reference electrode flow path forms an opening in a section of the substrate that is not the sensor-facing surface, and another end is positioned inside the substrate. A tip of the reference electrode holding hole communicates with the reference electrode flow path at a point that is not at an end part of the reference electrode flow path. One end of the first flow path forms an opening in a section of the substrate that is not the sensor-facing surface, and another end forms an opening in the sensor-facing surface of the substrate. The first flow path and the other end of the reference electrode flow path communicate inside the substrate. As a result of said configuration, the reference electrode holding member is highly operable and the conductive lines thereof are not easily contaminated.
