PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit for a bicycle, which can inhibit a distance between a crankshaft and a rear end from becoming long, and a bicycle equipped with the drive unit.SOLUTION: A drive unit for a bicycle comprises an assist motor that adds assist force to man-power driving force inputted from a crankshaft, and a housing in which at least a part of the crankshaft and the assist motor are provided, and is disposed around the crankshaft. The housing is formed such that, when the drive unit for a bicycle is installed to a frame of the bicycle, as viewed in a direction parallel to the center axis of the crankshaft, a minimum distance between the center axis of the crankshaft and the rear end face of the housing on a rear end side of the frame is 50 mm or less and larger than the radius of the crankshaft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
