<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confocal microscope capable of imaging a clear two-dimensional image and a three-dimensional image as the whole image, even when a high-brightness or low-brightness portion exists locally in an imaging domain. <P>SOLUTION: This confocal microscope has amplification means (32, 33) for amplifying a frame image signal with a high gain and a low gain alternately, and means (36, 37, 38, 39) for forming respectively the whole focal image from a series of high-gain amplification images and low-gain amplification images. Pixels in a proper brightness range are extracted from the two whole focal images to perform pixel synthesis (43). The whole focal image having a corrected amplification factor is formed (44) based on gain information of the amplification means and an output signal from a pixel synthesizing means (43), and brightness correction such as γ correction is performed relative to the whole focal image having the corrected amplification factor (45), and two-dimensional image information wherein all pixels are in the proper brightness range is output. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
