METHOD OF SELECTING WIRE MATERIAL FOR AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRIC WIRE AND AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRIC WIRE

<p>A diameter threshold for electric wires is set in the range of 0.75-1.5 sq. Electric wires having a diameter not smaller than that threshold are formed from pure aluminum as a wire material. On the other hand, electric wires having a diameter smaller than that threshold are formed from, as a wire material, an aluminum alloy having a tensile strength of 200 MPa or higher (e.g., an Al-Mg aluminum alloy (5000-series aluminum) or Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy (6000-series aluminum)).</p>
