PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to reliably reduce noise without changing a slide contact state between an image carrier and a blade member, and to provide a process cartridge.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: detection means 15d for detecting volume of noise generated at the tip of a blade body 15a1 in a blade member 15a or near a holder member 15a2; and an elastic rotating body 30 formed so as to be brought into contact with or separated from an image carrier 11. When the volume of noise detected by the detection means 15d exceeds a predetermined threshold, the elastic rotating body 30 located in a position separated from the image carrier 11 is moved to a position in contact with the image carrier 11, and a pressure contact force of the elastic rotating body 30 with respect to the image carrier 11 is varied according to the volume of noise. |
