PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper by which vibration control effects can be obtained from when a building has small deformation by providing a brace material of H-sectioned steel with a bearing strength difference.SOLUTION: A damper 10 includes a brace material 30 of H-sectioned steel fitted in a structure plane 18 of a building 20, a stiffening pipe 34 which surrounds the brace material 30, a proof stress reduction part 40 provided at an axially intermediate part of the brace material 30, and a buckling stiffening material 50 provided inside the stiffening pipe 34. The width of a web 40C constituting the proof stress reduction part 40 is narrower than widths of upper flanges 32B, 33B and lower flanges 32C, 33C of both end parts of the brace material 30, so that the proof stress is reduced. Consequently, when a building 20 has small deformation due to a small earthquake etc., the web 40C of the proof stress reduction part 40 absorbs energy of vibration while plastically deforming, so vibration control effects can be obtained by the damper which uses the H-sectioned steel as the brace material from when the building 20 has the small deformation. |
