PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a functionalized polydiene polymer which provides a tire with reduced hysteresis properties and reduced cold flow characteristics.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for preparing a functionalized polydiene polymer which comprises: (i) a step of polymerizing a conjugated diene monomer in the presence of a lanthanide-based catalyst system to prepare an active polymerization mixture; (ii) a step of adding a nitrile compound having a protected amino group to the active polymerization mixture; and (iii) a step of adding a co-functionalizing agent to the active polymerization mixture before or after or simultaneously with the step of adding the nitrile compound having a protected amino group.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
