PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for driving a liquid jet head which can avoid the occurrence of a malfunction such as cavitation in nozzles even if the number of pieces of the driving nozzles is changed when driving the liquid jet head.SOLUTION: In accordance with a drive device, a drive part driving a pressure-generating element arranged corresponding to a nozzle as a load and controlling a state that the load is driven comprises a first drive part for driving the load by making a first current flow, and a second drive part for driving the load by making a second current smaller than the first current flow. A first state and a second state are included in the state that the load is driven, and the second current in a direction in which the first state is switched to the second state is made to flow at timing which is earlier than, by a preset prescribed time, timing at which the first drive part makes the first current for switching a drive state of the load to the second state from the first state flow. |
