PURPOSE: A method for determining a preference order of a handoff in a mobile communication system capable of improving a performance of a handoff by using an expected call cut time obtained from a power value and a power variation rate, a requested channel capacity for a call, a feature variable as a preference order determining reference, is provided. CONSTITUTION: The method for determining a preference order of a handoff in a mobile communication system in order to add a preference order for a channel allotment with respect to handoff requesting calls which are in standby, without vacant channels, the method comprising the steps: detecting a call cut time, a requested channel capacity, and a kind of a service with respect to handoff calls which are in a standby state; adding reference order weights to the handoff calls and determining reference orders thereof, and preferentially allotting a vacant channel to a handoff call having a first reference order when the vacant channel is generated.
