PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a microregion dispersing type polyvinyl alcohol film which can be prevented from curling and can develop a high anisotropic scattering function in a case that a polarizer is manufactured using the microregion dispersing type polyvinyl alcohol film.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the microregion dispersing type polyvinyl alcohol film comprises a process for coating a base material with a microregion dispersing type polyvinyl alcohol resin solution and drying the coated base material before peeling the coating layer on the base material to obtain a self-supporting film. The moisture content of the peeled self-supporting film is set to 2-8 wt.%.
